Simone J. Hollins

 

Simone practices in the field of employee benefits and ERISA advising multiemployer/Taft-Hartley plans and public employee plans on a wide spectrum of Pension and Welfare Plan regulatory compliance matters.

 

Simone advises clients with respect to regulatory compliance matters under ERISA, HIPAA, the Affordable Care Act, and the Internal Revenue Code.  She also advises clients on matters relating to plan operational issues, plan design, benefit determinations, review of Plan Documents and SPDs, drafting and review of service provider agreements, and QDROs.

 

Simone has extensive experience advising multiemployer pension plans on issues related to tax qualification under the IRC, including correcting plan qualification and operational failures and negotiating with the IRS to obtain favorable determination letters on behalf of plan sponsors.

 

Simone received her law degree from St. Louis University in 2001 and her undergraduate degree from Marquette University in 1996.  Simone joined the firm in 2007 and became a shareholder in 2015.  Simone is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, the Missouri Bar, the Jackson County Bar Association and the Kansas Metropolitan Bar Association.

 

Prior to joining the firm, Simone was an Assistant Public Defender in the Jackson County, Missouri Trial Office, where she provided representation to indigent clients in all phases and types of criminal matters.
