John J. Westerhaus
Mr. Westerhaus’s employee benefits practice focuses on compliance-related issues affecting Taft-Hartley multiemployer pension, health, vacation, 401(k), annuity, training, apprenticeship, and other trusts and their Trustees. His practice has included the negotiation of service provider agreements, advising fund administrators in their responses to government and participant inquiries, and representing employee benefit plans in litigation.
Mr. Westerhaus received his bachelors in economics from Washburn University in 2006. After working with employee benefits issues in a human resources capacity, he earned his law degree with honors from Washburn University School of Law in 2012, where he twice competed in the Jessup Moot competition and was inducted into the Order of Barristers. During law school, he interned for U.S. Magistrate Judge David J. Waxse in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas. After law school, Mr. Westerhaus earned an LL.M with honors from University College London in 2013, and joined the firm in 2015.
